The Prayer


Every razzle dazzle argument
Has a negative tone except one.

It starts:
Hail Mary full of grace have mercy on us all.

And ends:
Amen

After the initial plea for mercy
It castigates the lone human soul
That fears sickness although already ill
And craves for peace by desecrating walls.

Then appeals to the same soul
To surrender its will to the Lord
Just to see what happens, in any case
Safe, in the guarantee of lasting love.
