Requiem for an unknown friend

Blue blue the natural hue
Of the moonlit night that claims
The heart of the unknowing present
Sits still in a sullen pose until
A golden globe awakes to paint
The celestial dome of a working day

Red red the world you said
Is the colour of its own birth
The origin of aging and rust
The hollow feelings of mystic remorse
Need not bring the monsoon rain
But it pours in buckets of sorrow
As though there was no tomorrow

Green green where have you been
Bleached to the elder gray of poets
In words trapped by the silvan saps
You slumber in the autumn shades
Here sighs the virgin spring
Dormant for now but who knows
What the next season will bring

Yellow yellow means hello hello
In some far off foreign land
With glaciers north and pine trees south
Glancing gazes make a long round voyage
While Greek Sea sifts the shore somewhere
And a mezzosoprano intones "Adagio"
Calling softly softly from the thin air
