The Mirror Only three sprinklings of grey in the hair And nice dreams on trestles just stare and stare The weather vanes on the spires guide the air I've looked at myself that way What do I do with such a sense of fun I feign and blow bubbles on everyone So many things were left just half done Because the mirror got in the way The mirror tells me I am older now Side to side and head to toes somehow I leave my cloak hanging there in the hall And I really don't know myself, at all Tall prunes and short dunes dance along the wheels Dizzy damsels seeking love between the deals The Daily Mail will say how it all feels I've looked at my times that way Then everything it seems is done for show Leave a tip turning around as you go And if you dare to steal don't let them know Don't ever give your game away The mirror tells me time is ticking now Round and round and right up the hill somehow They're building a brand new shopping mall And I really don't know my times, at all Peers and seers cheer and they talk so loud Well, folks will say that they are all so proud To be just the same as everyone in the crowd I've looked at my world that way Yet old friends now look at me kind of strange Their faces redden as I say I'll change Speaking of faith saving the mountain range How I'll thank the Lord everyday The mirror tells me things are tougher now The mills will grind and I will work somehow But please don't ask me what I recall Because I really don't know my world, at all
