Jamaican Farewell

Along the way where in the nights of May
The moon glows pale over the mountain top
I booked a trip on a sailing ship
And when I saw Jamaica I made a stop

Sounds of caprice and girls are everywhere
The dancing hips sway smoothly to and fro
I must confess I put my heart right there
Though I've seen girls from Maine to Mexico

Down at the local markets you can hear
How ladies cry and on their heads they bear
All kinds of rice, salted fish are nice
And the rum gets drunk all through year

Chorus:
But I'm sad to say, I'm on my way
I won't be back for many a day
My heart is down and my head is turning around
I had to leave a little girl in Kingston Town
