Blessed are The Meek

Then why not just say you do not believe
If it's that much easier than saying you do?
From life what do you hope to retrieve
Other than the one who says she loves you too?

If you did somehow inherit the earth,
Would you not keep everything green and fertile?
For all the things we do not know about birth,
Would you not be proud when all is virile?

If the heart of nature is hot and wild
What good does it do to try and tame it?
The loquacious act that begets a child,
Does it not make us all cry just a bit?

You are jealous of all that you can take
Within your reach but why covet the star?
The possessive world map is what you make
But for glory would you go out that far?

And when you do manage to get there first,
Then will you not claim it for all mankind?
And since it's not power for which you thirst
Will you keep only some of what you find?

When the slower brethren get there second,
Might you not see why blessed are the meek?
And unlike what people might have reckoned
Why does one need to prove that he's not weak?
