Taste of Chocolate

Chocolate was made by some humanist's wit
The humanist we assume as a man but
History books mention Hildegard of Bingen
An astute lady of religion and music
and of tastes for things that memory craves

Plasir du chocolat is the best shop in Edinburgh
Fondly remembered as a place for its taste
of tea and chocolate cake and imagery of people
blurring in and out like an impressionist painting
and reading newspapers very like Professors

University wits scoff at the abuse of meters
but surely things said must also flow
What is the rule for making people laugh?
Is it a sage acting the clown
or a clown being so very wise?
